PEAK THEATRE ARTS
A Youth Theatre Arts Education Company
Amplifying diverse voices through the lens of BIPOC and Latinx playwrights.
SPOTLIGHT
We highlight plays by BIPOC and Latinx playwrights. Students develop a deeper understanding of themselves relative to the cultural and historical significance of the play. In response to the work, students write a contemporary piece to perform.
Designed For: Expanded Learning Programs, Non-Profits, Libraries, Community Centers, Camps, In-School Residencies (Elementary,* Middle & High School)

"Only about 22% of produced plays in the U.S. feature playwrights of color, and even fewer are by Latinx playwrights." HowlRound Theatre Commons, 2019

SPOTLIGHT actively centers plays by BIPOC and Latinx playwrights, giving students access to stories that reflect diverse cultural and historical experiences often missing from mainstream theatre. By engaging with these works, students gain a deeper understanding of representation and develop their voices through contemporary pieces inspired by these brilliant playwrights.
