By centering their lived experiences and cultural identities in the creative process, Your Story on Stage creates a space where students feel heard, seen, and empowered, building confidence, connection, and communication skills that support lifelong success.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will develop and dramatize original stories based on personal or cultural experiences, using voice, movement, and imagination to express their unique perspectives. (Theatre – Creating: Anchor Standards 1 & 2)

  2. Students will collaborate in small groups to create and perform scenes, strengthening skills in communication, empathy, and teamwork.  (Theatre – Creating & Performing: Anchor Standards 3, 4 & 5)

  3. Students will design simple visual elements—such as props, costume pieces, or set sketches—that support storytelling and demonstrate understanding of narrative context. (Visual Arts – Creating: Anchor Standards 1 & 2)

  4. Students will reflect on their creative choices and performances, using peer and self-assessment to build confidence and awareness of how stories can connect people and communities. (Theatre – Responding & Connecting: Anchor Standards 7, 8 & 11)
